[cma-l] DCMS consultation meetings on amendments to community radio law

Hi Jacqui,

Thanks, and yes, I know. I wasn't having a go at the CMA there...! (on the
contrary, we would be stuffed without the CMA's help)

However, there is the general perception amongst many people (and
advertisers, despite the fact that advertising is moving away from
traditional broadcasting towards online media, "big time" ) that internet
radio isn't "real radio". This is a perception that needs to be changed,
although it will inevitably change by itself.

My main point is that some sort of provision needs to be made to include
internet media when figuring out the future of radio, including discussions
about DAB, DRM, etc. Not simply out of "fairness" or inclusiveness, but
because that is the way technology is going, so if this is ignored there is
a danger that the "future platform" (if there is to be one) will suffer the
same fate as DAB.

Best regards, and good luck with the meetings!
