The Social Action Fund is a new £20 million fund from the Office for
Civil Society which is being managed by the Social Investment
Business. The fund will provide grants to fund social action projects
in England. Grants start at £100,000 and are primarily to cover
revenue costs.

The fund has three themes:

a) Social action in the community – encouraging people to come
together in their neighbourhoods to support each other
b) Social action inspired by the Olympics and Paralympics – projects
harnessing the energy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games
to create a legacy of social action
c) Social action for all ages – projects encouraging people from all
generations to be active in volunteering and charitable giving.

Preference is for large scale proposals, generally covering a region,
or a number of regions, and to those offering match funding. Projects
should be able to demonstrate that their impact can be scaled and
replicated.
