Community Media Association – Technical Assistant
Grade: NJC Scale Point 20, £18,453 pa plus Employer’s contribution of
6% of gross salary offered via CMA Group Personal Pension Scheme
Based at: CMA office, Sheffield

Background:

The Community Media Association (CMA) is a not-for-profit voluntary
and community sector members organisation providing support,
advice and lobbying services for the UK community broadcasting sector.

The CMA receives funding from a variety of sources including
subscriptions, grants, fees from contracts and fees from projects. An
important stream within these are the online media services (operated
under the Canstream banner) which are available to CMA members and to
others.

A key feature of the Technical Assistant’s role is to work with the
Technical Operations Manager to develop, implement and manage new and
existing online media services so as to generate unrestricted income
for the CMA.

This dynamic and challenging role requires you to provide a high
degree of service to new and existing Canstream customers requesting
online media services such as Internet radio, podcasting, video
streaming and more.  You will also give excellent customer service to
CMA members requiring information and support about community
broadcasting issues. The post holder must be committed to the social
enterprise ethos of business development.

Job Purpose Summary:
The Technical Assistant will work with the Technical Operations
Manager to deliver, maintain and develop the CMA’s ICT strategies
including development of the CMA’s flagship Canstream webcasting
services, maintenance and improvement of the CMA’s ICT systems and
services, and the provision of technical advice and support to CMA
staff, members and external organisations with which the CMA works.
