The Clore Social Leadership Programme will open applications for its
third cohort of Fellows on 18 April this year.

The Programme, which seeks to build leadership capacity in the third
sector, is offering up to 20 Fellowships to individuals demonstrating
exceptional potential in work with charities, community organisations,
social enterprise and cooperatives.

As one of several partners, Paul Hamlyn Foundation funds a Fellowship
for an aspiring leader working in an organisation committed to
securing social change for marginalised individuals and communities.
Jacqueline Williamson, Head of Fundraising and Development for
Northern Ireland homelessness charity First Housing, was the most
recent recipient of the Paul Hamlyn Specialist Fellowship, and in 2010
PHF funded the General Fellowships of Caroline Beaumont and Rashid
Iqbal.

"The Fellowship is a great opportunity to network with other charity
leaders, and share in a way we are often unable to," says Iqbal, who
is currently Deputy Director of Operations at the Children's Society.
"We can develop a view of where the whole sector is going and bring
this back to our organisations, which helps bring an external focus
where there is sometimes a leaning toward internal capabilities.

"There's not really any 'typical' Social Fellow; the cohort's fairly
broad and mixed, and very representative of social enterprises, local
charities, and larger organisations. The Clore Social Leadership
Programme (CSLP) is not necessarily looking for the finished product,
but for someone who's passionate about the sector as a whole, who
wants to develop leadership responsibility for sector wide issues.
That's crucially what sets CSLP apart from, say, an MBA: Fellows are
encouraged to take a view of the sector as a whole and how they can
contribute to it."

During the programme, Fellows attend residentials, undertake a
secondment in a different working environment and carry out a
practice-based research project, as well as having access to intensive
networking and mentoring opportunities. The Clore Social Fellowship is
an initiative of the Clore Duffield Foundation, and is based on the
success of the Clore Leadership Programme for the cultural sector.

The deadline for completed applications is 2 June 2011, and final
selection of applicants will take place in October for a January 2012
start.
