Dear All

Amongst all the little whinges from moi' at this end, there has been a lot
of positive stuff going on as well. In fact, some really positive stuff. The
good old British Bull-dog spirit shining thru' + a bit of robbing Peter to
pay Paul, which we have all become very good at of late.

All hush hush of course, but guess what ? Canalside is now
broadcasting in three ways

1) 102.8fm for North East Cheshire (well not quite, but we can
dream)(we're about to purchase a bigger yoghurt carton and a longer piece of
string)

2) On the canstream www.ccr-fm.co.uk <http://www.ccr-fm.co.uk/>
and

3) OUR NEW STATION www.cy4y.ccr-fm.co.uk
<http://www.cy4y.ccr-fm.co.uk/> this has launched today. It is run
by young people for young people. They are empowered to make their own
programmes, their own decisions and to determine the way in which they want
their station to go. It is another success story. Canalside is doing
everything right, it is such a pity that the powers that be seem to doing
everything within their powers to thwart and obstruct what we do. Maybe not
on purpose, but after 10 years, there now are no excuses either way (on
purpose or accidental or circumstancial)

Consultations, more consultations and more wasted time and effort trawling
over all the same complaints, observations and arguments. It really really
is pathetic !

There is a restriction, and that restriction must remain. Why ?
because it is the best restriction and the one that separates us from the
rest and one that keeps us in order and Ship shape/Bristol fashion

The fact that we are not-for-profit - benevolent - charitable -
philanthropic and that we have key commitments to fulfil, is MORE than
enough. The mere fact that these exist keeps us focused and keeps us on
course for what we were set up to do. Our communities always come first.

This ladies and gentlemen is the whole Community Radio malarky in a
nutshell. It is brought to you by someone who only got 4 GCSE's History /
Geography / English Lit / RE ...... I had no further education, no
universities, but I have attended the University of life and the College of
common sense.

Perhaps those with all their Diplomas and A levels should try out the other
two establishments sometime ..... they'd be a lot wiser, we wouldn't be
operating in the middle of a debacle and everyone would be better off and
less stressed. We would all be chilled and smiley smiley :-)

Just a thought that's all.

I'll keep you updated on any further developments.

Please forward this e-mail onto Mr Hunt and Mr Vaizey and tell them their
coffee's ready ... Wake up and smell it !

Keep smiling :-)

Regards

Nick
