Community Cash Awards (UK)

Young people are being given the chance to claim a share of £1 million 
to help tackle the dangers of drugs, crime and play a positive role in 
their community. The Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cash Awards will 
see £1 million of grants being distributed by youth charity “The 
Prince’s Trust” to young people who want to run community projects in 
some of Britain’s poorest areas. The Awards, worth up to £3,000, are 
available to disadvantaged 14 to 25-year-olds who want to transform 
their area and learn practical skills. Projects could range from 
improving local youth facilities to sex education workshops in schools.

Projects must be run and managed by:

people between the ages of 14 and 25
clearly benefit the local community
benefit the people running the project
be a new or developing project.

Previous projects supported include:

An amateur boxing project to give young people greater confidence; and
a media project to promote community cohesion and greater understanding 
between the local community and asylum seekers.

BT Community Connection Awards (UK)

BT has announced that they are now accepting applications through their 
Connection Awards programme.  BT Community Connections is an award 
scheme that supports groups that are able to demonstrate how they help 
the local community learn about the benefits of the internet and how 
they will train members of the community on how to use the internet. 
Applications are welcomed from a diverse range of community 
organisations, charities, social enterprises and community interest 
companies.

Previous BT Community Connections winners include: Silver surfers, 
cultural groups, conservation organisations, family support groups, 
healthy living clubs, arts and music groups, sports teams and youth clubs.

Priority will be given to applications from community groups that 
operate in areas of deprivation.  Award winners will receive a year’s 
free Broadband from BT.  Groups are only eligible to apply if they have 
a BT business landline.
