Not sure if anyone on the list might be interested, but might be an
interesting opportunity and experience, but also a possible way
to influence policy towards media and the arts and children / youth.

*London & South East Region
Terms - between one and three years*

BBC Children in Need provides grants to positively change the lives of
disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. We celebrate
diversity and positively encourage applications from all parts of the
community for these positions. BBC Children in Need operates four grant
rounds a year, therefore committees meet at the end of March, June,
September and January each year. The meeting requirement will be 1-2 days
per grant round.

Committee members make up a small team bringing a range of skills, knowledge
and experience including: working with children; the voluntary sector;
disability; social services; equal opportunities; business planning and
finance; and the Children’s Act. This is a volunteer role with appointments
for a term of between one and three years, subject to references and
agreement by the BBC Children in Need Appeal Trustees. Regional Advisory
Committees advise the Trustees on grant awards.

Committee members advise the Trustees on which organisations should be
funded by BBC Children in Need within their regions. We expect committee
members to bring a sound understanding of the current issues facing children
and young people experiencing disadvantage, a good understanding of the
voluntary and statutory sectors, a good local/regional knowledge of their
region and strong strategic, analytical, collaborative and objective
decision making skills.

*To apply, please click on the apply button and visit our website, where you
will need to complete the 'Main Details' and 'Equal Opportunities' sections
and upload a CV to the 'Additional Information Upload' section. In addition,
in the 'Application Questions' section, please outline your interest in the
role.

Closing date: 4 September 2011. Interviews and assessments will be held
between the 12 to 23 September. Successful candidates will be expected to
attend a committee training day on 12October 2011.*
