The Philip Lawrence Awards
Do you know a group of young people aged 11 to 20 who have made an
outstanding contribution in their community?
If so, nominate them for a Philip Lawrence Award. You have until 24
September 2010 to nominate them.
Set up in memory of head teacher Philip Lawrence, who was murdered
outside his school in 1995, the Philip Lawrence Awards celebrate
outstanding contributions made by young adults in their communities.
>From tackling issues like bullying and antisocial behaviour to
improving their communities and having fun, the Philip Lawrence Awards
aim to recognise young people who are taking a lead and making a
difference.
The awards are open to groups of young people aged between 11 and 20
from anywhere in the UK.
The winners will be chosen based on how they and their projects:
* improve their own lives and the lives of others
* take a lead and have an impact
* make a sustainable contribution to their community
* make strong links between generations
* help promote active citizenship, crime reduction or community safety
* promote respect and understanding of faiths, culture and communities
The deadline has been extended to 5.00 pm on 24 September 2010.
You can fill a nomination form in online by following the link below.
Up to 30 regional finalists will be recognised in November and up to
ten national winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in
London on 7 December.
The winning projects will receive £1,000 towards their work.
