The Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA: http://www.wcva.org.uk/)
is staging a conference early next month to debate the third sector’s
role in tackling economic activity in Wales.

The "Promoting Economic Participation: Challenges, and Opportunities
for Third Sector Organisations" conference will allow third sector
organisations to get involved in the debate surrounding the role of
the sector in working with the unemployed.

The event will take place on 8 February 2010 at the new Cardiff City
Stadium and will include:

    * Panel discussions and workshops featuring programmes delegates
may wish to get involved with.
    * Workshops examining how volunteering can strengthen employability.
    * Sessions exploring programmes which fund organisations assisting
people back into work.

The keynote speakers at the conference will be UK Minister for
Employment and Welfare Reform, Jim Knight, and Welsh Assembly
Government Minister for Children, Education and Lifelong Learning,
Leighton Andrews.

Chief executive of the WCVA, Graham Benfield OBE said:

“This conference will bring together the debate on the increasing role
of the sector in promoting economic participation, and will also
enable delegates to find out about the range of programmes and
projects that provide opportunities in this area.”
