LIVE BROADCAST BY MALDON ELECTION CANDIDATES

The Maldon District's Community Radio Station, Saint FM, is broadcasting a
live debate between all the general election candidates standing for the
Maldon parliamentary seat.

The Saint FM Live Election Debate is set to be the only forum during the
election campaign in which all the candidates will meet and discuss local
issues.

The debate will be broadcast live across the Maldon district on 94.7 FM on
the evening of Tuesday 4th May, two days before the General Election. The
debate will start at 7.30pm and is scheduled to finish at 9pm.

The public is invited to make up the studio audience, but space is limited.
Tickets, which are free, are available from the Saint FM office at St
Peter's School in Burnham, or at Saint FM's Maldon Office in the Rivendell
Centre in White Horse Lane. Tickets will be issued on a first-come,
first-served basis from Thursday 29th April. Tickets will not be available
on the night of the debate.

The debate will be chaired by John Cassels, who is also the chair of the
Saint FM Board and who previously worked as a senior journalist and producer
for BBC radio and later as a teacher at Saint Peter's School. It is being
produced by Nick Skeens, the station's news editor, previously a news editor
at ITN and GMTV.

The details of the local issues to be debated will be pre-publicised on the
Saint FM website, www.saintfm.org.uk, which will also broadcast the debate
live.

The 90-minute debate will open with introductory statements by all the
candidates, before the chair introduces each issue for debate. The
candidates will be given equal time to answer before the studio audience is
invited to quiz them further on each issue. The debate will close with brief
summary statements from each of the candidates.

The candidates are, in alphabetical order of surname:

1. Mr Len Blain, British National Party

2. Mr Swatantra Nandanwar, Labour

3. Mr Jesse Pryke, UKIP

4. Elfreda Tealby-Watson, Liberal Democrat

5. John Whittingdale, Conservative
