[cma-l] Station Output Recording: How do you do it?

Most stations use logging software running on a PC, usually under Windows or
Linux, with the sttaion output fed into the PC on its ordinary sound inputs
or through a dedicated interface. Sometimes it's an option on the automation
software as well.

Some including ourselves, use the same PC to do internet streaming and
programme logging (not necessarily from the same audio feeds or at the same
bit rates). A common arrangement is to record a high-quality log (eg 256kbps
MP3) for re-use, but down sample or record a parallel lower sample rate
stream for long term logging/archive.

There is a huge range of different software options for this, from free to
very expensive, and from slightly dysfunctional to superb, but the two
aren;t necessarily related! There was a very useful long thread on the
subject on the Community Radio Toolkit forums at
http://www.communityradiotoolkit.net/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=441

Hope that helps you start looking at the options.
