Hi Shane
I'm planning a PhD on 'under the radar' community organisations and am
looking to build a small stat profile to explain how young people
learn at community media organisations, outside of their usual
learning channels of school etc, and what they think of the kind of
learning they're experiencing.

The aim is to investigate the learning cultures within the small
community media organisations that retain an independence from
government by not providing formalised training but instead value
concepts such as peer learning, mentoring and lifelong learning. This
would perhaps be a community radio station with a few programmes made
by groups of young people who are supported by staff and other
volunteers, but generally are given independence and freedom to be
creative. In this situation individuals perhaps develop their own
learning strategies and conentrate skills on what they're interested
in, or perhaps strengths and weaknesses.

Any stats, or a further chat off list, is always welcome. I'm a year
off beginning, so these are preliminary enquiries.
Ben
