Do you know of a charity that deserves a pat on the back?

Or maybe free consultancy support, courtesy of NCVO's consultancy
service and a tailored package of media services from Media Trust?

If you know a small or medium-sized charity that deserves recognition
for its hard work, tell them about the Guardian Charity Awards 2009.
These annual awards seek to recognise and encourage those charities,
sometimes overshadowed by the big players in the voluntary sector, who
make an outstanding and valuable contribution to social welfare in the
UK community. Yes, the household names of the charity world do a vital
job in so many aspects of our society; but it's typically the smaller
organizations that have the fresh thinking, flexibility and reach into
communities that make the crucial difference to people's lives. Maybe
you work for one of these charities yourself and believe your
achievements could inspire others if only they were highlighted.

The Guardian Charity Awards have, for the last 17 years, helped small
and medium-sized UK charities win the profile and funding they need in
order to move forward. Winners this year will each receive: £1,000; a
new PC from Jigsaw Systems; free consultancy support, courtesy of
NCVO's consultancy service; and a tailored package of media services
from Media Trust.
