Community groups and social enterprises across Scotland have until 26
June to apply for grants to promote healthier diets and lifestyles.

Funding ranging from £500 to £4,000 is on offer through the latest
round of Community Food and Health Scotland’s Small Grants Scheme.

The programme aims to promote healthier lifestyles across Scotland,
with a particular focus on encouraging low income communities to take
up more varied and balanced diets.

Applications must tackle one or more of the following barriers to
healthy eating:

    * Availability - such as the lack of access to fruit and
vegetables of an acceptable quality and cost.
    * Affordability - including the cost of getting to the shops as
well as the cost of shopping.
    * Skills – for example, the lack of confidence and skills for
cooking or shopping.
    * Culture - such as long established dietary habits and reluctance
to experiment with new foods.

Priority will be given to projects which can demonstrate a strong
partnership element and that their activities will be sustainable in
the long-term.

Interested groups must submit their bids for funding by 26 June. It is
expected that successful applicants will be informed by the middle of
August and receive their funding by the end of September.
