Dear All

The ESRC is organising a one day 'Engaging with the Third Sector'
workshop. This workshop is for social science researchers and
academics of all levels post-PhD who are undertaking research of
potential relevance to the Third/Voluntary sector.  All social
scientists are eligible to apply but priority will be given to
ESRC-funded researchers if the workshop is oversubscribed.

The Purpose of the Workshop is:

-         To increase understanding of how research can be applied to
inform policy and practice

-         To explore a range of frameworks that can be used to support
knowledge exchange activities

-         To identify skills, tools and techniques for maximising the
impact of research

-         To network and share experiences with colleagues from other
research institutions and third sector organisations

-         To develop a framework for participants to create a
knowledge transfer strategy

The workshop will be held in the Cardiff City Hall, Cathays Park,
Cardiff, CF10 3ND
(http://www.cardiffcityhall.com/CH_location_e.htm)  on the 21st of May
2009 and will be facilitated by an external consultant Carol Sherriff
who is also an associate lecturer in Knowledge Management at the Open
University. The workshops are designed to be extremely interactive and
will include case studies and attendance from external stakeholders in
the third sector domain.

There is no attendance fee and refreshments and lunch will be provided
- delegates will however be required to cover travel expenses.

I have attached the provisional programme for the workshop. In order
to attend, delegates must complete the attached application form and
return it to the following email address  knowledgetransfer at esrc.ac.uk
by Friday 1st May 2009.

Attendance will be limited to 20 and delegate places will be confirmed
shortly after the closing date.

Please feel free to send this email on to relevant colleagues.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards

Kirsty
