Mediabox grants
============

Mediabox has various schemes to support young people develop and
produce creative media projects for film, television, radio, online
and multi media platforms.

The funding schemes, as outlined on the Mediabox website, are:

- MINI MEDIABOX - Grants from £1,000 - £5,000

Mini-Mediabox is for grassroots and community organisations with a
relatively small turnover. This is an entry-level grant with a quick
and easy application process, designed to enable smaller organisations
to access funding for their youth-led projects.

This scheme is open to grassroots and community youth organisations.

Deadline: Round 1 opens: 1st May 2009, then ongoing.

 - MY MEDIABOX - Grants of £500

We run high profile partnerships with media companies throughout the
year offering individual young people funding for a one-off media
project, along with specialist production training.

Mediabox partnerships, which to date have included the Daily Mirror,
Bebo, ITV Local, Community Channel and Channel 4, enable the work of
young people to reach the widest possible audience.

This scheme is open to individual young people via competitions and
partnerships.

Deadline: Competitions are announced throughout the year.

 - MID MEDIABOX - Grants from £5,000 - £20,000

A mid-level grant open to established youth organisations that may or
may not have delivered media projects in the past. This grant can be
used to develop a new creative idea and/or to promote a completed
youth-led media project to a wider audience.

This scheme is open to established youth and/or media focused organisations.

Deadline: Round 1 opens: 27th March 2009, round 1 stage 1 deadline: 7th May 2009

- BIG MEDIABOX - Grants from £20,000 - £40,000

Big Mediabox is the largest grant, designed for organisations with a
strong track record of developing media projects with young people.
This grant can assist organisations to deliver new programmes that
allow a larger group of young people to work collaboratively. Match
funding of 40% of the total project cost is required, 20% of which
must be cash.

This scheme is open to established youth and/or media focused
organisations. Please note partnership funding is required.

Deadline: Round 1 opens: 1st April 2009, round 1 stage 1 deadline: 27th May 2009

- MIX MEDIABOX - Grants from £5,000 - £20,000

Designed to reach organisations that bring together young people from
diverse economic backgrounds, faiths or geographic areas to work on a
media project. This grant enables young people to work with older
members of their community, to create media projects that encourage
communities to gain a better understanding of each other and promote
community cohesion.

Deadline: Round 1 opens: 10th August 2009, round 1 stage 1 deadline:
21st September 2009

First Light Movies
=============

First Light Movies, which supports and funds film-making by young
people aged 5-18, has announced new deadlines and to expect changes to
guidelines in 2009.

The funding schemes are:

- The Studio Award – A track record of film-making with young people
is necessary to apply for this award, which gives up to £30,000 for
two to four films of up to 10 minutes long.

- The Pilot Award – Designed for first time film-makers, up to £5,000
available to produce one film of up to five minutes long.

- What’s the Big Idea? Award - Grants up to £3,000 for funding for
script development projects that team young people with script
professionals.

Deadlines:

The Pilot Award and What’s the Big Idea? Award: 7 July, 13 October
2009, 19 January and 27 April 2010

The Studio Award: 5 May 2009, after the next round the application
process will change to a two-stage one. New guidelines will be issued
on 24 August 2009, with a closing date of 5 October 2009.
