The Demos Report originates from the Institute for Development Studies
at the University of Sussex and has many references to work published
there. But their studies, though deservedly highly regarded in the
development studies field, have hardly ever made connection with media.
In this case it's surprising since the research on which the Demos
report draws was funded by DFID (Dept for International Development) and
that part of UK government is well aware of the importance of media in
development projects around the world, and funded for example the
piloting in Sri Lanka of Ethnographic Action Research as a methodology

This morning I have contacted Demos and Professor Andrea Cornwall who
wrote the report with the view to bringing them more up-to-speed about
the work that we are all doing concerning community engagement. I'll
report back any useful responses...
