10th Edition of Voices without Frontiers is coming: VSF 2008

Dear colleagues

This March 21st International UN Day against Racism and Discrimination The
World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters will issue the Tenth
Edition of Voices Without Frontiers under the sign of the 25th Anniversary
of AMARC.

The World Campaign VSF 2008 will highlight the dynamism of the
global CR sector and demonstrate citizen’s use of ICT for development.
Voices Without Frontiers is a 24 hours broadcast through the Internet and
by the CR network of AMARC with radio programmes in English, French,
Spanish and several other languages, crafted by CR producers from
Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe and the Americas on the challenges created by
racism and discrimination, on denouncing situations of racism and
discrimination and on highlighting social actions and experiences of
struggle against racism and discrimination in local communities and in the
world. It is also an opportunity to showcase the social impact of
community radio and its contribution to a better world.

The Coordination of the VSF 2008 world Broadcast Campaign will be ensured
in AMARC Asia Pacific by the regional coordinator Suman Basnet; Omar
Mamadou, Coordinator of AMARC Africa will ensure coordination of the
Africa CR network, the secretary general of AMARC Europe will coordinate
the European region; Inés Farina from the AMARC LAC, Pulsar information
agency, will coordinate the broadcasting of Latin America and Caribbean CR
network and the project responsible Ricardo Costa will ensure coordination
by the International Secretariat and for CR in North America.

As usual, our Internet broadcast will start with five (5) hours
programming produced by CR from the Asia Pacific Region. It will be
followed by four (4) hours programming by African CRs and two (2) hours by
MENA Community Radios. The Internet broadcast will be followed by four (4)
hours programmes from CR network from Europe; by five (5) hours the Latin
America and Caribbean CR network, and; four (4) hour programming from CR
network from North America.

To participate in the Global Campaign, the radio productions should be
uploaded by the usual mechanism in the VSF 2008 site by March 14, at the
latest. Please contact us for the passwords.

This year we want to showcase the strength of the CR sector throughout
some interventions of our global network online with the 25th anniversary
of AMARC.

Please connect your CR to our global campaign or download
programs and broadcast them at the time of your choice to your
communities. Please send us outreach data and listeners estimates to help
gather data on the social impact evaluation of VSF 2008 global campaign.
