Subject: Ofcom update: Ofcom publishes BFI report on BBC News School Report

Ofcom published today an independent qualitative research report by the
British Film Institute on learning about broadcast news, which looks at
the learning outcomes of three of the 120 schools taking part in the
pilot BBC News School Report project.

School Report is a project which aims to enable Year 8 (12 and 13 year
old) students in UK schools to learn about news production by giving
them the opportunity to produce and broadcast their own reports.

The report forms part of Ofcom's wider work on Media Literacy which is a
key priority for 2008-09.
