Celebrate International Volunteer Day (IVD) 2008!

IVD offers an opportunity for volunteer organizations and individual
volunteers to make visible their contributions - at local, national
and international levels - to the achievement of the Millennium
Development Goals. Over the years, rallies, parades, community
volunteering projects, environmental awareness, free medical care and
advocacy campaigns have all featured prominently on IVD.:

Community Channel presents "Helping Others Can Help You" to say thank
you to volunteers across the country on International Volunteer Day:
5th December 2008. It is a colourful, impactful celebration of people
who volunteer; showing the benefits and all that is great about
volunteering.

It's amazing what you can get out of Volunteering. As well as meeting
loads of new people and having fun, the skills you learn give you a
great sense of achievement. And remember, whatever your abilities,
everyone has something to offer!
