First stage applications for the final 2008 round of funding from the
Mediabox programme must be made by 19 August.

The Department of Children, Schools and Families-funded scheme can
support community-based organisations from across England that
encourage disadvantaged young people to take part in media projects
that boost their personal development and improve skills.

Two levels of funding can be applied for:

    * Mid Mediabox grants of up to £20,000.
    * Big Mediabox grants of up to £40,000.

Funding is available to all youth or media focused organisations in
England, and projects can focus on a wide range of media strands,
including print, radio, digital media, advertising, and film and
television.

Successful projects will be expected to:

    * Meet the aims of Mediabox (helping disadvantaged young people)
and at least one of the Government's Every Child Matters objectives.
    * Involve young people at all stages of the activity.
    * Demonstrate strong project management, with the organisation
having a proven track record in dealing with young people.

Priority will be given to applications from the West Midlands, East
Midlands, and the East of England, along with projects that can
demonstrate strong partnerships with other organisations, including
local authorities, charities and other groups who work with
disadvantaged young people.

Interested organisations are initially asked to complete a short
online proposal form outlining their project. Successful entries will
then be invited to complete a full stage two application.

The final stage one proposal deadline for 2008 is 19 August, with full
applications to be completed by 30 September.

For more information about the scheme and to submit a stage one
proposal online, visit the Mediabox website:
