[cma-l] do you copyright programmes, materials etc?

Creative Commons is a nice option for wholly original work, such as local 
talks, original stories and original training materials, but I'm not sure 
how practical or appropriate it would be on derivative works such as music 
programmes including commercial music for example, since the volunteers 
would not themselves have the legal right to offer open content rights to 
the copying and distribution of the work.
